Dr. Marissa Tenenbaum

Dr. Marissa Tenenbaum practices plastic surgery in St. Louis at West County Plastic Surgeons of Washington University, which is affiliated with the Washington University School of Medicine. She has a passion for improving the lives of others through plastic surgery.

Dr. Tenenbaum’s Education and Training
After earning her Bachelor of Science in natural science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Tenenbaum got her medical degree at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
She then completed more than 6 years of post-doctoral training at various medical institutions, including a residency in general surgery, a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery, and a chief residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Dr. Tenenbaum also completed a craniofacial research fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and a cosmetic plastic surgery fellowship at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates, the practice of renowned plastic surgeon Dr. W. Grant Stevens.

Certification and Professional Positions

Dr. Tenenbaum is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. She is the associate program director for the Plastic Surgery Residency Program and an assistant professor of surgery for the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Tenenbaum is also on the emerging trends and patient safety committees for ASAPS and the clinical trials network for ASPS.

Professional Recognition

In addition to being voted as one of the “Best Plastic Surgeons” and “Best Doctors in America” by St. Louis Magazine, Dr. Tenenbaum received numerous prestigious honors throughout her education. She was twice awarded Best Clinical Presentation from the Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Tenenbaum received the Samson F. Wennerman Prize in Surgery, which is awarded to a 4th-year student who has demonstrated promise in the field of surgery, and the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation as a female medical student who graduated in the top 10% of her class. She also was recognized by the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and Golden Key National Honor Society and made the Dean’s Honor List 8 consecutive semesters.
